William Hoffman Rissinger, age 82, passed away peacefully October 24, 2022. Bill is loved and greatly

missed by his wife of 62 years Kaye, a large family and countless students and staff from his 40 years of

teaching in the Central Bucks School District.


Born in Mahanoy City in 1939, Bill is a graduate of Kutztown University and received a master’s degree

from Temple University. After his many years in the Central Bucks School District, he earned a well-

deserved retirement from inspiring a love of science in numerous young minds. Bill is revered as a

beloved teacher, colleague, mentor and friend to many. He set the standard for extracurricular

activities, including being a professor at Delaware Valley University; founder of the Unami Middle School

science research program; director of the Bucks County Science Fair; board member of the Delaware

Valley Science Fair; sponsor of local, regional, and international science fairs and research projects;

sponsor of five International Science Fair Grand Award recipients. He is also the founder of multiple long

running field trips for students, including the famous Island Beach State Park and Gettysburg trips, and

was a longtime Unami Middle School tennis coach.


Bill was active in his community, serving 50 years on the Chalfont-New Britain Township Joint Sewage

Authority. He was a member of the Lenape Valley Presbyterian Church and of the Doylestown Masonic

Lodge No. 245 for over 60 years. He was an accomplished outdoorsman, sharing his love of camping,

fishing and hunting with his family and friends. Bill was an avid runner and completed several major

Philadelphia distance events. He enjoyed model trains and spending time at the beach. He was a

devoted Eagles, Flyers, Phillies and Sixers fan.


In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children Lisa, Greg, Lynne and Lori; and is blessed with 10

grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.


Services and interment are private. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to honor Bill’s life are kindly

requested to donate in his name to Lenape Valley Presbyterian Church or Aark Wildlife Rehabilitation

and Education Center.
