William H. Benson, 81, of New Britain, PA passed away on May 23, 2021 at home.   He was the devoted husband of Judy Benson; loyal and loving father of Michelle Benson and Laura (Ken) Smeltzer. He was "Gpop" to Matthew, Shannon, Zachary, Julia and Lucas, whom he adored. Born in Philadelphia on Sept. 4, 1939, Bill was the son of the late Daniel and Mary Jane (nee Thompson) Benson and brother to the late Marie, Robert and Daniel Benson. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews.

Bill graduated from Bishop Neumann High School and earned his associate degree in accounting from the University of Pennsylvania and bachelor's degree from Delaware Valley University. Bill was a dedicated Certified Public Accountant who said "If you love your job, you'll never work a day in your life." He continued to work for his clients up until 2020 and looked forward to tax season every year.

In addition to being a CPA, Bill was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Army Reserves from 1962-1967.

He loved making people laugh with his quick-witted sense of humor. He was always telling jokes and loved the sound of people laughing around him.

He was a diehard Eagles fan his entire life.  He was a season ticket holder season for over 50 years going to games at Frankin Field, the Vet and finally the Linc. He loved taking his daughters and grandchildren to the Eagles Games over the years. He always would say "It's such a nice day for a game, they should play two!"

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Bill's life on Saturday, June 5 at 11:30 AM at Scanlin Funeral Home, 175 East Butler Ave (Rt 202) Chalfont, PA 18914, where the family will greet friends starting at 10:30 AM. Interment will be private.
