William “Bill” Sablich , 79, of Warminster, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2024, surrounded
by his loving family. Born on April 27, 1945, in Philadelphia, to Phyllis and Bill Sablich.
Bill graduated from Olney High School in 1963 and went on to Saint Joseph’s University were
he earned an associate’s degree in accounting. His love for sports began early, playing football,
basketball, and baseball throughout his youth and high school years. Bill Served in the US Army
during the Vietnam War where he continued playing on the US Army traveling sports teams.
Bill married his high school sweetheart, Joanne Focht, in 1968. Together, they raised two
children, Bill and Ann-Marie. Bill’s true passion was coaching, and he dedicated over 30 years to
coaching youth sports teams in Olney Midget League and Olney Eagles. He coached baseball,
football, and basketball, impacting the lives of countless young athletes with his enthusiasm,
dedication, and encouragement.
Bill’s coaching philosophy went beyond winning games; he believed in teaching life lessons
through sportsmanship, teamwork, and perseverance which he instilled in his children. He will
be remembered for his patience, positive attitude, and unwavering support.
Outside of coaching, Bill was an avid sports fan, always cheering for all Philadelphia sports
teams especially the Phillies. He was an avid golfer spending a lot of weekends on the golf
course. In addition to sports Bill loved the beach spending summers on Ocean City’s beach. He
was also an active member of the Ocean City VFW, American Legion and The Elks Lodge.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Joanne; his children, Bill (Jennifer), Ann-Marie (George), his
grandchildren, Alexandria, Nicholas, Conor, Daniel, Catherine and Kyle. He was also survived
by many nieces and nephews.
Bill's legacy of mentorship, kindness, and love for sports will live on in the hearts of those who
knew and were inspired by him. His family and friends will deeply miss him.
Bill’s life and legacy will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, from 10:30 AM- 2:30 PM at
Flourtown Country Club 150 McCloskey Rd, Flourtown, PA 19031. 10:30 AM-12 PM will be
visitation followed by a Blessing and Words of Remembrance. Lunch will begin at 12PM.
