Ursula Joseph Phillips Profile Photo

Ursula Joseph Phillips was a strong, beautiful woman. She passed away peacefully on December 20, 2021 at the age of 93. On March 19, 1928 Ursula was born in East Prussia to parents Erich and Helena Joseph. She had a younger sister Christina. Her family survived World War II and escaped to Marburg, Germany. There she met the love of her life, Albert “Phil” Phillips, who was an American soldier stationed in the city. She became a “war bride” when they married and moved to the U.S. Her beloved nickname was Queen of Prussia. While Phil pursued his career in the military, they lived in many places including Hawaii, Georgia, Wisconsin, and Pittsburgh. There they joyfully welcomed their son Eric Jason. After they finally settled in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Throughout her incredible life, Ursula worked in many roles including banking and marketing. She was known for her marvelous sense of fashion, her sweet smile, sense of humor, and feisty personality. Ursula was a true social butterfly and had many wonderful, lifelong friendships. Anyone who knew her was touched by her kindness. Her love of cookies and chocolate reflected her sweet personality. Ursula was a proud, unconditionally loving grandmother, known as Oma, to her four grandchildren: Bridget, Jessica, Jillian, and Eric. She adored her daughter-in-law Lynn like her own daughter. She filled their lives with happiness, warmth, and true support. Ursula is preceded by her husband and parents. She is survived by her son, daughter-in-law, grandchildren, and extended family. She will be missed more than words can express. A service will be held at St. John Neumann Cemetery in Chalfont, PA on December 23 at 1pm (due to increase in COVID-19 cases). A memorial service will soon be held at Elm Terrace Garden, her place of residence for many years, in the new year. In Lieu of flowers, the family invites donations be made in her honor to the Nationality Service Center, a non-profit that supports immigrants and refugees.
