Teresa Park

Teresa Park, 83, of Chalfont passed away peacefully on January 20, 2022. Teresa was born as the youngest of nine children on October 21, 1938 to Harold and Helen Flannery in Rawtenstall, England. After training at Preston Royal Infirmary in Lancashire, England, Teresa practiced as a Registered Nurse. She then trained and practiced as a Midwife at St. Mary’s Hospital in Manchester before attending Manchester College of Science to become a Health Visitor. She shared her kindness, caring and sturdy resilience with the people she served. In 1962, Teresa met Samuel Park—Sammy as she always called him—while he was attending Salford University in Manchester. They were married on Easter Monday (the first possible day after lent) in 1967 at St. James the Less Catholic church in Rawtenstall. Teresa and Sammy emigrated to the US in 1968 after Sam was recruited by the General Electric Company. Over the following decades, Teresa and Sam had six children: David, Gerard, Damien, Elizabeth, Sara and John. The family moved several times as Sam’s job took them to cities around the US. back to England, and then back to the U.S. where they ultimately settled in at “HQ.” Throughout that time, Teresa worked at running The Park Family and volunteered for various charitable organizations, with a particular devotion to directly helping people who were isolated or outcast in some way. Teresa was predeceased by her parents, Helen and Harold and siblings: Thomas, Joseph, Ted, Mary, Gertrude, Helen and Alice. She is survived by her husband Samuel, brother Peter, children David (Alicia), Gerard (Loren), Damien (Alexis), Elizabeth, Sara McMillan (Corey), John (Andrea) and her grandchildren Matthew, Stephanie, Christopher, Anna, Sammy, Daniel, James, Benjamin, Kieran and Cora. Services will be held at St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Chalfont for immediate family only. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Covenant House (www.covenanthouse.org), an organization Teresa greatly admired and supported.
