Ruth A. Kissinger

Ruth Ann Kissinger, of Doylestown, PA died in her home on April 8, 2021. Ruth was born when her parents Revs. Harry and Carolyn (Kratz) Kissinger were pastors at the Evangelical and Reformed Church in Howard, PA. She spent her younger years in Laurys Station.  After her mother died the family moved to Old Zionsville where her father met and married her step-mother Marion (Griffith) Haas. She lived there with her brother Kenneth and three step-siblings Susan, David, and Judy until going to Edinboro College in Erie, PA. After being graduated with a B.A. in Social Work Ruth moved to the Allentown area to begin her career. In 1978 she moved to Doylestown where she remained working for a variety of social service agencies including Bucks County Association for the Blind. Ruth served as a guard at Bucks County Jail where she was promoted to Director of the Women's Jail and developed the first Women's Work Release program. After many years there she moved on to Tabor Home for Children where she helped at - risk families access services for their children. She ended her career at Lenape Valley Foundation supporting group home residents, where she was well loved by all.

Ruth was a lifelong church member active in a number of congregations over the years. In recent years she participated in the Messianic Jewish congregation Beth Emanuel in Philadelphia. Ruth was a friendly person with a pleasant disposition and excellent sense of humor. Although she kept her circle of close friends, including her aunt Mary and cousins Deborah, Fritz & Claire, and Emlee Kohler tight , she was at ease with all people so that her co-workers, neighbors, church , and community acquaintances were always glad to spend time with her. She traveled and had great times with her friends Veronica and Linda.

Ruth Ann is survived by her brother Kenneth of Allentown, step siblings Susan (Barry) Haas Mademann, David (Allison) Haas, uncle Larry (Barb) Kratz, cousins Deborah (Ed Magner), Emlee (Howard Eglowstein) , and Claire Kohler, Becky (Neil) Hoch, Kathleen (Reed) Swanson, Jefferson (Susan), Brian (Shelly), Gregory (Ann Marie) , and Matthew (Samantha) Kratz as well as several grand-nieces and nephews including Dericka and Mollie Kohler
