Ronald J. Spillman

Ronald J. Spillman, 80, passed away after a long illness on November 17th, 2023. He was

surrounded by his beloved wife, Victoria (Ponente), who were married for almost 20 years and

his three daughters.

Ronald was born July 13th, 1943 to the late Robert and Elizabeth (Shanahan) Spillman. He

graduated from Abington High School in 1963 and went into the United States Air Force

Reserves in Willow Grove, PA until 1971. After his discharge he went on to work for the United

States Postal Service in Huntington Valley, PA for 29 years. He was an avid softball player,

playing on intramural teams well into his mid-seventies. He also coached St. Jude’s CYO Girls

Basketball for several years.

While he had many challenges in his life and health, he always had a good sense of humor and

positive outlook. He was a lover of animals and enjoyed watching the Philadelphia Phillies and

Villanova Men’s Basketball teams.

Aside from his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Betsy Gensemer (husband Stephen),

Jennifer Malatesta (husband Christopher), Shannon Spillman; stepdaughters Brooke Nase

(husband David Chwastyk), Dana Hardcastle (spouse Rob and son Kipton); seven

grandchildren Victoria Confer (husband Eric), Michael Malatesta, Allison Gensemer, Sara

Codispoti (husband Joseph), Nicholas Malatesta (wife Molly), Jack Malatesta (Emma Gavornik),

Lila Clayton, and one great-grandchild: Greyson Confer.

He is also survived by his brother, Robert Jr. (wife Sharon) of Glendale, AZ, two nieces

Kathleen Mayers, Susan Wheeler, and one nephew, Robert Spillman III.
