Ron was the first child of Ronald Wolfe and Ruth (Pauly) Wolfe. He was born in Philadelphia and raised in the
Olney section alongside his two younger brothers, Michael and Robert (Bobby). Ron was an active member of St.
Helena’s Parish where he attended grade school. He graduated from Cardinal Dougherty High School and spent
one year at LaSalle College before accepting a Naval ROTC scholarship from Villanova University. He
graduated with a BS in Accounting.
Soon after graduation, he met his wife of 56 years, Anita Therese Knorr, through his brother, Mike. They were
quickly engaged and married prior to his deployment in Long Beach CA. Ron proudly served as Navigator,
ASW Officer, and Nuclear Weapons Officer on the USS Gearing and USS Alamo. He was active during the
Vietnam War. During his service, Ron and Anita welcomed their first child, Ruth Ann.
After his service Ron and Anita decided to move back home to PA to be closer to friends and family. They settled in
North Wales and welcomed their second child Ronald Dennis III. Ron took a position at Merck in West
Point PA as Director of Quality Control. He worked there for 18 years before changing jobs at Arrow
International/Precision Products in Wyomissing PA. He retired in 2006.
Ron’s absolute biggest joy was his family. He doted on not only his children but his four grandchildren: Madeline,
Molly, Joy Ann and namesake Ronnie IV. He also had the joy of having a great grandson, Anthony Robert
(Trey) in his life for the past 9 months.
Ron loved reminiscing with his family and retelling old family stories. He spent many hours doing so around the
dinner table. He enjoyed watching movies and sports especially Villanova football and basketball. Ron was extremely
skilled at making model replicas of naval ships. He spent many hours crafting them to perfection. Ron and Anita
enjoyed watching endless sporting events, plays, and various other activities their grandchildren were involved in. They
loved going to the beach and took many vacations to both Ocean City and Avalon NJ with our families. The
grandchildren always looked forward to their crabbing excursions with Pop Pop.
Ron possessed a strong intelligence and emphasized the value of learning and thinking before action. In addition to
his smarts, he had an irreverent sense of mischief and wonderful wit and sense of humor. He was always quick with a
clever observation or joke at hand to entertain his friends and family.
He was a true officer and a gentleman who is so adored by his family and will be forever missed.
