Robert Page Sr., a resident of Brittany Point Estates in Lansdale and formerly of Chalfont, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 24, at the age of almost 91 years. He is now back with his beloved wife Betty Jean (Renkin) Page to whom he was married for 61 wonderful years. Bob was born in Pittsburgh, PA, on August 17, 1927. He met Betty in high school where he charmed her during homeroom as the story goes. During high school, Bob worked in the Pittsburgh steel mills while also working for his father at his print shop. Bob was uniquely a member of two of the United States armed forces. He proudly joined the Marines just before high school graduation to defend our country in WWII and was stationed on the USS New Jersey as part of the ship's Marine Guard Unit. He also spent a month in Nagasaki only weeks after the bomb was dropped there. After the war, he attended the University of Pittsburgh, and in 1948, Bob and Betty eloped. He joined the Army reserves and was called to active duty by the Army for the Korean Conflict just before college graduation. Bob started his career with Sears in 1954 and worked there for 37 years. In retirement, Bob greatly enjoyed wood working where he and Betty worked as a team. Bob would meticulously cut out the patterns and Betty would add her magic touch while painting them.

Betty and Bob’s love for each other kept them together over the years to raise seven children. They lived in Chalfont for 39 years. Their love of tent camping enabled the family to visit the country and create many wonderful memories. Bob will be remembered by his five surviving children, Robert Jr. and wife Joyce (Chagrin Falls, OH), Randall and wife Karen (Kintnersville, PA), Bryan and wife Patti (Sinking Spring, PA), Wendy and husband Chris Morris (Phoenixville, PA) and Amy and husband Rich Cook (Pittsburgh, PA). He also leaves behind 14 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren (with an 8 th on the way). Bob and Betty were preceded in death by their two children, Kevin (19 years old) and Beth Anne (6 months old).

Bob truly loved life and everyone around him. He always put the needs of others first and his smile was ever present. He was very active in the Chalfont community. He was captain of his bowling team, did volunteer work for the Chalfont United Methodist Church, and was a proud member of the Chalfont VFW Post 3258 since 1996 where he held several prominent positions including Post Commander. Even into his eighties, Bob made sure the graves of past veterans had a flag put on them for special days, thus ensuring they were honored and not forgotten.

Relatives and Friends are invited to attend his viewing from 7pm to 9 pm Friday, July 27, at SCANLIN FUNERAL HOME, 175 East Butler Ave. Chalfont, PA and from 10:30 am to 11:30 am Saturday, July 28 at Chalfont United Methodist Church, Chalfont, PA. Church service will be 11:30 am to 12:30 am. Interment will follow at St. John Neumann Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Chalfont United Methodist Church.
