Richard (Dick) K. Cadwallader of Chalfont Pennsylvania passed away Sunday, April 22, 2018 peacefully at his home. He was 82.
Dick was predeceased by his brother, Jim Cadwallader. He is survived by his wife, Jackie Cadwallader and their children: Kevin (Lisa) Cadwallader, Kellie (Tom) Pompei and Kyle (Tina) Cadwallader. He is also survived by his 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Dick spent many years serving others in the United States Army in the Korea war and the Army Reserves in addition to being a Veteran Life Member of Chalfont Fire Company. As a member of the fire company, he was an engineer and assistant chief.
Dick developed a love for cars and racing when working at Mark's Garage in Chalfont and fostered this love working at various speed shops building stock cars. He briefly raced drag cars and won his division at the first NHRA Nationals in 1955. The stock cars that he built won many races with drivers Ed Horn and Freddy Adam over the years at several different tracks. Dick's success in the racing community was recognized in 2013 when he was inducted into the Reading Fairgrounds Speedway Hall of Fame.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate his life at the Chalfont Fire Company at 301 N. Main Street, Chalfont, PA on Monday April 30, 2018. Calling hour will be from 6:00-7:00 pm with a memorial service to follow at 7:00 pm. Interment will be held privately at Whitemarsh Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Dick's name to the Chalfont Fire Company, 301 N. Main Street, Chalfont, PA 18914.
