Richard E. Miller

Richard E. Miller passed away Monday September 6, 2021 at Nazareth Hospice Vitas in Philadelphia. He was 91.

Born October 21, 1929 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the fourth of five children of the late John and Lillian (Holcomb) Miller. He is survived by a daughter Dawn Miller and 4 grandchildren Elizabeth, Jessica, Allison and Michael. He was predeceased by his son Richard J. Miller and siblings Winnfield Dutton, John P. Miller II, Beatrice Miller Buchalter and Phillip Miller.

Richard enlisted in the United States Marine Corp at 16 and spent the next 20 years proudly serving his country. In 1951 he met his future wife Dorothy Gibbons in NYC. One year later, he was stationed at the US Embassy in Israel and Dorothy joined him there and they were married. They lived there for several years and traveled across the Middle East and the Mediterranean. They eventually returned to the states where they started a family.

Richard was extremely active in his community and coached both Little League Football and Baseball. After the dissolution of his marriage Richard moved to Arizona where he stayed for 20 years. Richard was extremely proud of his children and was an excellent father.

Richard requested to be reunited with his son at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Services are private at the request of the family.
