Raymond J. Canavatchel a resident of Hainesport and formerly of Pennsauken, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 26, 2017. He was 82 years old.
Born October 25, 1934 in Manhattan, New York, he relocated to the south Jersey area as a youngster and later raised his family in Pennsauken, New Jersey. He is survived by his wife, Esther (Tate) of 61 years of marriage, daughters, Linda Cox (Les), RoseAnne Scanlin (James), sons, Anthony Canavatchel, Sr. (Andrea) and Michael Canavatchel. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren & four great grandchildren.
Raymond was multi-talented throughout his career working on cable systems that provided power to the trains in Philadelphia, electrical work at Schaevitz Engineering in Pennsauken, NJ as well as a maintenance mechanic at the American Paper Bag Company in northeast Philadelphia. He was an absolute "wiz" with anything to do with numbers later using his talent as a tax accountant/businessman.
He enjoyed hobbies such as building motorized model airplanes, wood-working and spending time with his beloved cats.
Family and friends are invited to attend his memorial service, 11 AM Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Mathis Funeral Home, 58 North Main Street, Medford, New Jersey where the greeting will begin at 10 am. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ray's memory can be made to the Burlington County Animal Shelter, 35 Academy Drive, Westampton, New Jersey 08060.
