Patricia G. Thurrell

Patricia Josephine (Gray) Thurrell of North Wales, PA passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 27 th , 2022, at age 95. Patricia was born on May 12, 1926, in Reading, MA. She was the daughter of Irish and French Canadian immigrants, Eleanora Hastings Gray and James Charles Gray. As a child, she loved dancing and horseback riding. After graduating high school, Pat attended the University of New Hampshire and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. Most often referred to as “Pat” by friends and family, she was affectionately known as “Patty Jo” by her late husband, Philip Emery Thurrell. After meeting on a blind date, Pat married the love of her life, “Phip” on February 14 th , 1948. She and Phip raised seven beautiful girls who occupied most of their time. She attended all 7 college graduations, including assorted post-grad accomplishments. Pat and Phip loved to spend as much time as they could with their daughters and their families; family was the most important thing to them. Her hobbies included anything that kept her hands busy such as sewing, cross-stitch and knitting (including hats for newborns in various hospitals). She handcrafted beautiful Santa’s and homemade stockings for all of her daughters and their families. Pat also loved outdoor activities like gardening and skiing. Pat is predeceased by her parents, her brother Robert Gray, and her beloved husband. She is survived by her seven daughters – Patricia Elizabeth Thurrell, Judith Thurrell, Susan Hastings Pratt (Bruce), Phyllis Karen Reynolds, Ellenore Rebecca Burnham, Marcia Burns (Kevin), Marie Wagner (Richard), as well as 10 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Services will be held at Mary Mother of the Redeemer Catholic Church in North Wales, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association to fund research and fight Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia.
