With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Michael (Mike) Gerald McMackin, Sr., who peacefully departed this world on July 2, 2023, at 69. Mike was born on August 23, 1953, in Philadelphia, PA, to the late Thomas Edman McMackin, Sr., and Matilda Veronica Mascuilli.

Mike leaves behind a loving family that includes his devoted wife, Nora (Carty) McMackin, sister, Candace Shiffer (Mark), brother, Thomas Edman McMackin, Jr. (Margaret), and his beloved children: Bryon McMackin (Hannah), Bryan Hack (Jill Heller), Scott R. McMackin (Alison McNamee-Herman), and Grace Clugston (Jeff). He also cherished his grandchildren: Nick, Ella, Charlotte, Adaline, Lilyanna, Mason, Elise, Maverik, and Miles.

Although his life was filled with love and joy, Mike also faced profound losses, as he was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Edman McMackin, Sr., his mother, Matilda Veronica Mascuilli, and his cherished son, Michael Gerald McMackin, Jr., who surely greeted him in the embrace of eternity, along with their beloved family Dobermans.

After graduating from Upper Moreland High in Willow Grove in the class of 1971, Mike pursued his passion for plumbing and heating, establishing McMackin Plumbing & Heating in 1973. The business thrived, becoming a family-owned and operated establishment. Mike's unwavering commitment to providing the best service and his integrity earned him the love and admiration of countless customers, contractors, and staff at Grove Supply. His memorable slogan, "Pipes Crackin' Call McMackin," became a fixture in the community, echoing his dedication to his craft.

Mike was a man of many exceptional qualities. His vibrant personality, never short of words, made him a magnet for friends and acquaintances. With great Irish and American pride, he exuded love for his country and heritage and shared his passion for motorcycles with others. His collection of model toy trains and his treasured train room brought immense joy to his heart, which he lovingly shared with his children and grandchildren.

Alongside his beautiful wife, Nora, Mike delighted in exploring various corners of the world. They reveled in the hills of Ireland, savored the beaches of Jupiter, Florida, marveled at the scenic beauty of Alaska, and enjoyed the vibrant atmosphere of Las Vegas.

Mike was an integral part of the Hilltown German Club in Hilltown, PA, where he created countless memories with dear friends. As an avid billiards player, he contributed his skills to the club's 8-Ball and 9-ball Billiard teams, proudly playing alongside his sons.

However, of all his achievements, Mike's greatest source of pride was his family. His fondest memories were with Nora, their children, and their cherished grandchildren. Whether tending to his hillside stone farmhouse or enjoying time at their lake home on Beaver Lake in New York, Mike's family was his anchor. He also held strong Republican values, which he passed on with passion and conviction.

Mike's passing leaves a void that can never be filled. As a devoted husband, caring father, beloved pop-pop, loyal friend, nurturing mentor, and valued community member, all who knew him will feel his absence deeply. However, even as we mourn his departure, we find solace in knowing that his legacy of love, compassion, and kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched.

The memories he created with his family and friends will forever be cherished as a reminder of the joy he brought into their lives. His dedication to his craft and the strong bonds he formed with his customers will be remembered by all who benefited from his expertise and genuine care.

Moreover, his passion for his hobbies, such as collecting model toy trains, will inspire the next generation to pursue their own passions with enthusiasm and dedication. The Hilltown German Club, where he spent so much time making good memories, will continue to carry his spirit and camaraderie.

In his role as a mentor and friend, Mike's wisdom and guidance will guide others, encouraging them to be kind, generous, and supportive, just as he always was.

While we grieve the loss of his physical presence, we know that Mike's spirit and the values he embodied will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and those fortunate enough to know him. His legacy will remain a guiding light through their actions and the love they share with others, illuminating the path for generations to come.
