Mary E. Hill

Mary Ellen Hill was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She passed away on May 8, 2021 at the age of 85.

She was the wife of Harrison Hill whom she was married to for 66 years.  Together they had 3 children.

Mary was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa to Wesley and Vivian (Kermeen) Petry on November 29, 1935.

Mary lived a life of service to her church (the United Methodist Church) and community for over 30 years. She worked as an LPN at Seward Memorial Hospital and as a nurse in Doctor William Herpolsheimer's office, serving the needs of his patients. She served three terms as Worthy Matron for the Order of Eastern Star, chapter 156 in Seward, Nebraska. In her retirement years she continued her love of gardening, knitting and crocheting.

Mary was proceeded in death by her parents, brother Charles Petry, sister Rose Marie Duhrkopf and her grandson Jeremy Coonfield.

Mary is survived by her husband Harry, and her children, Sherrl (Mike) Coonfield of Bonaire GA, Matthew (Julie) Hill of Lincoln, NE and LaDonna (Albert) Abrevaya of Chalfont, PA; 2 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; her sister Anna (Burl) Richey; plus, many nieces and nephews.

Friends and family are invited to Mary's Memorial service 11 AM, Friday, May 14, 2021 at Scanlin Funeral Home, 175 East Butler Ave., Chalfont, PA where the greeting will begin at 10 AM.  Interment will take place at Andersonville National Cemetery in Georgia at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, we ask that you continue to pray for our family during this time.
