Martin J. "Bill" Lavery, 84, of Chalfont passed away peacefully at home November 1, 2024, surrounded by family.  Beloved husband of Ruth M. Lavery (Schield) for 63 years.  Loving father of Martin (Bill) Jr. (Karen), Patricia Grater (Daniel) and Kristin Mooney (Paul).  Cherished grandfather of Elizabeth Tomaselli (Nicholas), Olivia Toppins (Blake), Michael, Zachary, Sarah, Kyle and Annalise Mooney.   Loving great grandfather to Gianna and Lilah Tomaselli.


Bill was pre-deceased by his parents Hugh and Helen Lavery (McCool).


Bill was born in Abington, PA.  He graduated from Ambler High School in 1958.  He worked alongside his father at Lavery and Son Garage in Spring House, PA for over 25 years.  He then opened up a sandwich and ice cream shop, Coneheads, in Ambler, PA.  After his retirement he worked part time at Genuardi's and Giant in the bakery department.


Bill was a faith filled man who loved his family and country.  He will be remembered for his kindness and gentleness.  Bill enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.


He enjoyed woodworking, coin collecting and traveling by train.  He loved animals especially his grand dogs, Daisy, Lexi and Roxy.


Bill loved cars.  He attended many car shows, showing his 1941 Ford Truck, Corvette and T-bucket.  He was a member of the Corvette Club of Delaware Valley as well as the Philadelphia Modifiers and Street Rod Club.  He was an avid race fan, especially NASCAR and Sprint Cars.  He attended many races throughout the country with his family.  He was also a Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan.


Bill was an active member of St. Jude Church.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus #9980 and served as a past Grand Knight.


Funeral Mass 10:30 AM Saturday November 9, 2024, at St. Jude Church 321 West Butler Avenue Chalfont, PA 18914.  Relatives and friends are invited to the Church Saturday after 9:45 AM.  Interment St. John Neumann Cemetery.


In lieu of flowers donations in his name made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation 2361 Hylan Blvd. Staten Island, NY 10306 or Bayada Hospice Care Box 536039 Pittsburgh, PA 15253 would be appreciated.
