Marion Metz Bauermann, (1929 – 2021), passed away with a well-used mind, soul, and heart. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Dr. Julius F. Bauermann. She was a treasured mother to children Karl Bauermann, Janice Smith (husband Wayne Smith), and Lisa Riley (husband Randy J. Riley), along with being a much-loved “Gia” to granddaughters Caitlin Riley, Meaghan Riley, and Ashlyne Riley. Marion was born and raised in Towaco, NJ. She attended Boonton High School and Montclair State Teachers college. Always a determined achiever, Marion applied to Rutgers University and achieved a Master's in Education. Never able to escape her thirst for knowledge she returned to school and attained a certificate in instructing English as a second language. Her legacy lives on, not only in educating her children and grandchildren, but passing on values and knowledge to many generations of students. When asked what she taught she would simply reply “children.” Marion also had a creative side which lead her to learn puppetry. She was a long-time member of the Puppeteers of America, created puppets and puppet shows and performed all over the United States. Somehow, this became a family activity by which many fond memories were created. As a retiree, she learned and played the hammer dulcimer, an activity that provided much joy to her. All people die, but not all people live. She lived by traveling the world throughout her life, learning, meeting new people and new challenges, teaching, and sharing her wisdom and experiences freely. Although we mourn the loss of her presence in our lives, she has left an indelible mark on all of us that knew and loved her. She would want to remember her with a smile and a good story and not tears. Let us celebrate the fact that her final wish was granted, and she is now reuniting in the Kingdom of Heaven with the love of her life, Julius.
