Margaret Faye “Peggy” Dominy née Arnold, 76, passed away at 11:46 a.m. Thursday, April 24, 2025, while in hospital in Doylestown, PA. She was born August 22, 1948, in Kansas City, MO.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, James F. Dominy, of Warrington, PA, her son Nathaniel (Erin Butler) Dominy of Norwich, VT and her daughter Abigail Dominy, wife of Jonathan Kinion of Seal Rock, OR, as well as her brother, Pleasant James (Elaina) Arnold Jr. of Blanchard, OK. Also surviving are four grandchildren: Eleanor and Emerson Dominy, and Claire and Evelyn Kinion.
Peggy’s parents were Pleasant James Arnold Sr. and the former Susan Eleida “Leta” née Buttrey of Kansas City, MO. Half-sisters Janice Arnold, and Dorothy and Reba Richey also predeceased her. Peggy is a graduate of William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri. Later she received a master’s degree in Astronomy at Case Western Reserve University, and a Master of Library Science degree from the University of Texas at Austin. In 2013 she retired after 33 years as a librarian, first at the Péridier Library of the University of Texas, later at the University of Pennsylvania, and, most recently, at Drexel University. In these positions she was known for the kindness she showed to the students and faculties she served.
She was an active member of the Physics-Astronomy-Mathematics Division of the Special Libraries Association, serving in numerous leadership roles. She served on the Board of Directors of BARC, formerly the Bucks Association for Retarded Children. While she was able, she served on church committees, sang in the choir, led Bible study courses, and organized guest speakers for the Adult Forum. She enjoyed genealogy, whodunit movies, Medieval choral music, collecting ancient coins, quilting, road trips, and walks through the ruins of Roman and Medieval towns during foreign travel.
Final arrangements are handled by Scanlin-McDonald Funeral Home Ltd. No funeral is planned. Memorials in Peggy’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society.
