It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Ligia L. Lara, of Chalfont, PA, who passed away on November 3, 2024, at the age of 83. Ligia was born in Quito, Ecuador, and was a loving and devoted wife and mother who dedicated much of her life to caring for her husband, children, and grandchildren.
Ligia came to the United States with her husband and firstborn having dreams of a brighter future for her family. She embraced her new home and language while proudly carrying her heritage with her. While helping to raise her children, Ligia worked part-time at various clothing stores, sharing her keen eye for fashion with customers. Once the children were grown, she pursued various full-time administrative, clerical, and supervisory roles, most recently with Fifth Third Bank in Cincinnati, Ohio where she worked for many years before retiring.
Ligia was a woman of faith who had a heart full of love and an infectious smile that brightened the room. She had a way of making everyone who came in contact with her feel special and understood. Whether she was attending Bible study, doing yoga, or simply spending time in person or on the phone with her relatives, friends, children, or grandchildren, she always found joy in the little moments. She said that hugs from her grandkids nourished her and were her medicine. Her selflessness, kindness, and unwavering support touched the lives of many friends, family, and co-workers.
Ligia was the devoted wife of Fernando Lara, loving mother of three children, the late Jeannette Lee (John), Alice Stagliano (the late Joseph), Fred Lara (Jennifer), and adoring grandmother of seven grandchildren, Rachel, Rebecca, Christopher, Isabella, Andrew, Samantha and Avery. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered for the warmth and love she shared with everyone around her.
