Lena Freidel Steil

On the evening of January 2, 2021 Lena Freidel Steil of Chalfont PA passed away peacefully.  She was 89 years old.  Lena was born in Texas to Minnie and David Walker in 1931.  She lived in Oklahoma and moved to North Wales PA graduating from North Wales High School in 1950.  She married Richard Freidel and they celebrated almost 55 years of marriage.  They enjoyed raising their family and actively participated in their lives, including camping, cub scouts, girl scouts and little league.    Lena and Richard were avid square dancers.  They traveled across the country attending conventions.  After Richard's death Lena continued her love of dancing and in 2008 she met Raymond Steil. They were married in 2010 with a square dance reception and were prominent members of multiple square dance clubs.  Lena was a very compassionate and loving person who deeply touched countless lives.   She was the ultimate care giver and was at her best helping others.  Her love and life lessons will be cherished for generations to come.

She is survived by her loving husband Raymond Steil, and beloved children, Jerry Freidel (Karen), Linda Earnshaw, Colleen Steil Michaels (Jim), and Lori Good (Tim). She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 10 greatgrandchildren who will carry her lessons forward.

Relative and friends are invited to attend Lena's viewing 10-11 AM, Friday January 8, 2021 at the Scanlin Funeral Home, 175 East Butler Ave, Chalfont, PA 18914.   Masks and social distancing are required.  A Celebration of her Life will be held later in the year due to COVID restrictions.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in Lena's name may be made to the Chalfont Fire Company Auxiliary at 301 N Main St, Chalfont PA 18914 of which she was a long time member.
