Kathy Jane Strong passed away peacefully on Memorial Day May 28, 2018 while in hospice care with her family by her side. Kathy was born in Pottstown, PA and lived most of her life in Chalfont, PA. She attended Chalfont Elementary, Unami Junior High, and Central Bucks West High School. Kathy attended Ashland College in Ohio and graduated magna cum laude with a physical education degree. She taught in the North Penn School District for one year and the balance of her career teaching and coaching within the Wilson School District in the Easton, PA area. Kathy enjoyed many years coaching field hockey and swimming. Kathy was a wonderful swimmer, field hockey, and tennis player herself.
Every summer, Kathy worked and managed, along with her family, the Lenape Valley Swim Club. She gave many young swimmers their start with proficient swim lessons. Everyone who knew her, knew that she loved beach and sun.
Kathy had a devotion to her church, Good Shepherd Episcopal Church Hilltown, serving many years as Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher, and Vestry member. Also, she had a love of America and all our country's wonderful patriotic traditions and history.
Kathy was a cancer survivor with a strong commitment to breast cancer research and the âRelay for Life' at Tohickon Middle School.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents John and Jane Strong (Chalfont). She is survived by her siblings Kay Bahner (the late Bob), Rick Strong (Terry) and Scott Strong. Also surviving are four nieces, one nephew, and a great niece and great nephew.
Friends and family are invited to attend her Memorial Service 1PM, Saturday, June 30th at Scanlin Funeral Home, 175 East Butler Ave., Chalfont, PA where the greeting will begin at 11 AM. Interment Whitemarsh Memorial Park will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Penn Wissahickon Hospice 150 Monument Rd., Suite 300, Bala Cynwyd, PA 19004 or to the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, PO Box 132, Hilltown, PA 18927.
