Kathleen “Kathi” Bertino Donia, 55, of Harleysville, Pennsylvania, passed away on Tuesday, March 8th, 2022, after an 8-year tenacious battle with ovarian cancer. Kathi was born on February 14, 1967, to Nicholas and Eileen (Rutter) Bertino in Chalfont, Pennsylvania, where she attended Saint Jude grade school. She eventually went on to attend Lansdale Catholic High School, graduating with the class of 1985. Kathi earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from La Salle University in 1989, and A Master’s Degree in Public Health from New York University’s School of Education, Department of Health Studies in 1999. She went on to have a successful 17-year career at Merck, where she met her husband, Tom. They were married on November 25, 2000, and went on to have two children, Natalia Marie, age 18, and Liam Thomas, age 16. In 2016, Kathi began her career with Pure Haven, where she educated others about nontoxic living. She was extremely passionate about this cause and eventually rose to the position of executive team leader, heading Team Valor. Kathi loved to travel, run, ski, hike, go on bike rides, practice her faith in God, and be with friends and family. She was incredibly strong, resilient, kind-hearted, selfless, a natural leader, and a fierce advocate for women with cancer and children with autism. She is loved and will be missed dearly by friends, family, and teammates who admired her greatly and were there by her side through her journey in her life and in her faith. Kathi was predeceased by her father Nicholas Bertino. She is survived by her husband Tom, two children Natalia (Tali), Liam, two step-children Nik Donia and Alexis (Ryan) Sullivan, her mother Eileen Bertino, her brothers Scott (Anne) Bertino, Richard (Katie) Bertino, Christopher (Corinne) Bertino, and in-laws Kathleen (Lawrence) Mullan, Deborah (Late John) Donia, Margaret (Thomas) Lego, Donna (Thomas) Doyle and Loretta Donia. A memorial mass to celebrate Kathi’s life will be held at Saint Jude Church in Chalfont, Pennsylvania, on Monday, March 14th at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to “For Pete’s Sake Cancer Respite Foundation” to help other families in their struggle with cancer. takeabreakfromcancer.org
