Judith A Sunderland, formerly of North Wales and Hatboro, passed away on November 10, 2022, at New Seasons in Chalfont. Judith, Judi to those who knew her, was born in Philadelphia on December 17, 1937, the daughter of Thomas Wm. Frank and Rosemary A. (King) Frank. Judi leaves behind her son, Joseph A. (Janet) Harmer, granddaughters Jenna (Austin) and Jaclyn, brothers Thomas Wm. Frank Jr, James M Frank, Stephen J (Susan) Frank, and Richard G. (Linda)Frank. Judi was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Sunderland, her parents and her brother, Donald J Frank.

Judi grew up in Germantown section of Philadelphia. Judi attended the Immaculate Conception School where in 8th grade, she achieved the highest IQ score in the school. For high school, Judi was awarded a full scholarship and attended Melrose Academy in Elkins Park. Upon graduation Judi worked as a bank teller and later at IBM before motherhood became her sole focus.

After her son married, not one to sit idle, Judi went to college and earned a BSN degree at Montgomery County Community College. Judi worked as a Registered Nurse at Abington Hospital and finished her career at Normandy Farms Estates. Judi loved her role as caregiver to many and worked until she was 78 years old when her health would no longer allow it.

It was in Judi’s nature to help and nurture those around her, animals included. There were always a variety of pets in Judi’s home. Besides dogs and cats, she cared for a racoon, birds that adopted her, even a one-legged duck. It would be important for Judi to know her most recent feline companion, Chatty, has found a comfortable home in nearby Souderton. For those who would like to make a memorial donation in Judi’s name, a local cat shelter would be appropriate.

Aside from spending time with her family, one of Judi’s favorite pastime activities was crossword puzzles. Judi also enjoyed needlework and knitted, sewed, and crocheted most of her life. Judi loved to keep up with those dear to her and always had words of encouragement to give. Judi also loved Christmas and the memories made by family.
