Joseph E. Hohenwarter

Joseph E. Hohenwarter, a resident of Venice, FL and formerly of Chalfont, Lancaster and Philadelphia, passed away Saturday May 20, 2017. He was 85.

Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Joseph and Florence (Cuniff) Hohenwarter and beloved husband of Marie (Glennon) Hohenwarter. Also surviving are his children Joseph Jr. (Phoebe), Lynn M. Scafidi (Robert), Mark (Barbara), and James (Cassie); eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; brother Thomas (Helen); sister Arlene Stauffer (Nevin) and several nieces and nephews.

Joe was a 1949 graduate of Lancaster Catholic High and became a printer following graduation retiring in 1996. He was a parishioner at St. Jude Church, Chalfont, PA for 27 years and Our Lady of Lourdes, Venice, FL since 1999 where he served in five ministries.

Friends and relatives are invited to celebrate his Funeral Mass, 10:30 AM, Friday, May 26, 2017 at St. Jude Church, 321 West Butler Ave., Chalfont, PA where the viewing will begin at 9:30 AM. Interment will follow at St. John Neumann Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in Joe's memory may be made to the Tidewell Hospice, 1144 Veronica St., Port Charlotte, FL 33952.
