Joan E. Schield

Joan E. Schield, 91, of Chalfont passed away peacefully at home on September 1, 2021 surrounded by her family.

Joan was born on July 17, 1930 in Bridgeport, PA and eventually moved to Chalfont.  She worked at Philco Ford for over 20 years, where she met her husband the late Harry Schield.  Joan enjoyed entertaining and always hosted family picnics and holidays.  Her favorite vacation spots were Ocean City, NJ and Lake Harmony in the Poconos, which became favorite family traditions.  She was an avid Philly sports fan, always rooting for the Phillies, Eagles, and Sixers.  She also supported the Chiefs and the Packers.  She could always be found tuned into the Game Show Network, working on her word searches, or playing card games or bingo with her grandkids.

Joan was a longtime member of the St. Jude parish and had a strong faith to the Holy Eucharist and the Holy Rosary, always participating in saying Rosaries for the St. Jude's lady's prayer chain.  She lead by example, always praying for anyone in need and spreading kindness to everyone she met. We will always carry your memory in our hearts.

Joan is survived by her loving children David Mayers (Deb), Sandra Smith (Todd), Elizabeth Delaney (the late Patrick), Ruth Lavery (Bill), and Miriam Straub (Jay); 20 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her sons Harry Schield Jr. and Raymond Schield.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate her Funeral Mass, 11:30 AM, Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at St. Jude Church, 321 W. Butler Ave, Chalfont, PA where her viewing will begin at 10:30 AM.  Interment will follow at St. John Neumann Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, Mass Cards or donations in my memory may be made to St. Jude Memorial Fund.
