Hespell James F., 87, passed away on August 18, 2022. He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra, They had recently celebrating 66 years of marriage. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Deborah Rodrigo (Richard), and Jerry Hespell, and five grandchildren: Kevin Hespell, Ben Rodrigo, Rae Rodrigo, Marissa Hespell and Alana Hespell He is survived by his sister, Doris McKinstry. He was preceded in death by his son, Jeff Hespell, and his parents, Frank and Helen Hespell. Jim grew up in Chalfont, and was a graduate of Lansdale High School. He served in the US Army after graduation, stationed in Germany as a helicopter mechanic. Upon discharge, he and Sandra lived in Chalfont, while building his home (and working full time!) that they lived in for 62 years in Hilltown Township. He was only 26 when they moved in. Jim was a tool and die maker by trade, and an avid "do-it-yourselfer" by avocation. In addition to his home, he built a 3 car garage, a workshop, and 2 garden sheds. He did the majority of maintenance on his home and vehicles, and did other wood working projects over the years Jim was an avid motorcyclist, and both he and Sandra were members of the Blue Comets for many years. They traveled by motorcycle up and down the eastern coast. He did a cross county trip with a friend by motorcycle, and attended many motorcycle and car events over the years. He also had a life long appreciation of nature and wildlife, enjoying bird-watching in his back yard and creating a path thru the woods on his property. Jim enjoyed being a grandfather. Over the years, he built a tree house, a lawn mower towed barrel ride, and set up rope swings at his home for the grandchildren, and he just generally enjoyed visits from them. Graveside Service will be held at 11 AM Friday August 26, 2022 at Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Ambler, PA. Those attending can meet at the clock tower inside the cemetery starting at 10:45 AM. There will be a celebration of Jim's life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim's name to Aark Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Center. 1531 Upper Stump Road, Chalfont, PA 18914 would be appreciated. www.aark.org
