Howard B. France, a resident of Buckingham Township, passed away Monday April 8, 2019 at Pine Run Health Center. He was 93.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the beloved husband of the late Jane (Standring) France. Howard is survived by his sons the Rev. David A. France (Susan) and Robert E. France (Maryann); two grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

After serving in the Navy in the V12 program at the end of World War II, Howard served in the Navy Reserve for a number of years, retiring as a Lieutenant J.G. He began his career at Cochran's, a division of Crane Corp. He later served as General Manager and then President of the John Wood Company. He ran Altair Engineering Company, Altair Equipment Company, and was a founding director of Suburban Community Bank (now part of Univest). He was a real estate broker and developed the Northampton Twp. Industrial Park. He was a Northampton Twp Supervisor and a member of the township's volunteer fire department. He served as a Director of Special Equestrians. He was a 32nd Degree Mason. He was also a member of the Association of Mechanical Engineers, the Pressure Vessel Manufacturer's Assoc., and the Ground Water Resources Council.
However, his greatest love was time spent on the Chesapeake on his sailboat and with his family.

Friends and family are invited to attend his Funeral Service, 11 AM, Friday, April 12, 2019 at Scanlin Funeral Home, 175 East Butler Ave., Chalfont, PA where the greeting will begin at 10 AM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to St. Luke's Bishop Hoffman Memorial, Reformed Episcopal Church, 6701 Frankford Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19135 or the Alzheimer's Association at www. act.alz.org.
