Herman J. Schmidt

Schmidt, Herman J., 87, passed on February 25, 2024. Beloved husband of Marianne (nee Trompetter) for 63 years; devoted father of Patricia Gabler (Phillip) and Joseph Schmidt (Jane); and loving grandfather of Victoria Schmidt, Kimberly Gabler, Kelley Schmidt and Emily Gabler.

A LaSalle College graduate, Herman met Marianne at a college dance. He retired from Ford Motor Company, Lansdale, in 1998. An avid boater, Herman captained three motorboat cruisers docked on the Chesapeake Bay throughout his lifetime. Herman enjoyed building HO model trains for his large layout. He also enjoyed Big Band music and Roy Orbison, whom he and Marianne saw in concert. He loved spending time with his family, especially his four granddaughters, from teaching them how to make his famous applesauce pancakes and steer his model trains and full-sized motorboats to attending all their school, dance and sporting events held in even the worse weather! He is and will continue to be greatly missed by us all.

Funeral Mass 11 AM Saturday March 2, 2024, at St. Jude Church 321 W. Butler Avenue Chalfont, PA 18914. Relatives and friends are invited to the viewing at the Church Saturday after 10 AM. Interment St. John Neumann Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Gift donations to St. Jude Church in Chalfont would be appreciated.
