Harry Geiger, Sr. died peacefully on January 20, 2019, at the age of 86. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of German immigrants Otto and Bertha Geiger. Before becoming a resident of Warrington, PA in 2016, he lived in Philadelphia for 84 years.
He was the beloved husband of Marie Geiger (Goodman) for over 60 years and father to two sons, Harry Geiger, Jr. (wife Jill Geiger) and Doug Geiger. He was a wonderful Pop Pop to his Grandchildren Kevin Geiger, Eric Geiger, Meaghan Alvarado (Chatary), Shayla Chatary, Michael Chatary Jr., and Devon Geiger. Harry was predeceased by his daughter Susan Chatary, son-in-law Michael Chatary and grandson John Paul Chatary.
Harry was a baker by trade, started off working in his father's bakery âGeiger's Bakery' that was located on Kensington Avenue in Philadelphia. He worked with his brothers and family for many years before he became the owner and operator of his own Geiger's Bakery on Holme Circle, Philadelphia. Harry worked incredibly hard his entire life to take care of his family, making sure they enjoyed their vacations in Disney World and down at the Pan American Hotel in Wildwood Crest. While everyone liked to vacation, his true passion was his work, making butter cake, donuts, and danish for the church goers and Winchester Park community in Northeast Philadelphia.
A proud veteran, Harry served as a cook in the Army National Guard for three years. He was a devoted lover of animals, had great companionships with all of his pets, especially his German Shepard.
Harry, Dad, Pop Pop, Mr. Geigerâ¦. We will always remember the kind-hearted soul you were, your easy-going nature, and friendly personality.
