Gerard (Jerry) Daly, 81, of Quakertown, Chalfont, Edison and Perth Amboy passed away
surrounded by his loving family as the sun was setting on September 3 , 2022.
He is survived by his loving wife Joan (Moakler) of 57 years in addition to his children: Kevin
(Michelle), Colleen Reynolds (Rob), Erin Grourke (M.J.), Brian (Michelle),
And Sean (Tammy). He was affectionately, known as “Pops” to his grandchildren: Kyle, Cian,
Noel, Riley, Hope, Sofia, Aidan, Tristan, Shea, Kaelan, Ian, Olivia, Eoin, Alex, and his faithful
dog, Petey. Also surviving are his brother, Timothy Daly and his cousin, Kathy Healey .
After St. Mary’s High School Jerry went into the U.S. Navy for three years and then enrolled in
and received his BA from Rutger’s University. Until his retirement, Jerry worked at Prudential
Insurance Company as an underwriter.
After his retirement he received a Master’s degree from Villanova University showing his family
that you are never too old to reach your dreams.
Remembered as a “behind the scenes” volunteer Jerry had a passion for helping the
underserved. Retirement allowed Jerry the gift of serving others by delivering food in Aid For
Friends in Philadelphia, volunteering at Code Blue, assisting animals at the Last Chance Ranch,
helping out at the Quakertown Food Pantry, joining a medical mission to Haiti after the
earthquake and also working for three weeks at a Navajo Indian reservation. His legacy for
serving was joined by his love for animals. The number of National Parks that he has visited
encouraged him to enjoy his home in the Poconos.
As his children were growing up, Jerry could be seen at many sporting activities supporting
their sport teams either as a spectator or as a coach. All his children and grandchildren agree
that “Pops” was always there for them. He loved taking small groups of grandchildren on fun
trips as Christmas presents. Everyone knew that Pops loved his ice cream, meatloaf, Jeopardy
and baseball.
Sincere gratitude goes to Penn Presbyterian’s Trauma ICU unit for their superior medical care
and the compassion shown to Jerry after his accident.
