George Sawyer passed away at home on January 25, 2022, surrounded by his beloved family, He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Edith (Ginny) Sawyer (nee Sherry), children Sherry Tharp (nee Sawyer) and husband John Tharp, Christopher Sawyer, Gregory Sawyer and wife Vicki Sawyer, Brian Sawyer, Pamela Sawyer and wife Christine Sandvik, 8 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and dear family friend Karen Patton. He was preceded in death by his brother Robert Sawyer, sister Dolores Henry, and son Keith Sawyer. During the Korean War, George served as a Sergeant in the United States Army. Following his time in the Army, he worked in office management and commercial real estate. George spent 20 years helping customers with his care and attention to detail at JCPenney, where he retired. At St. Jude Church in Chalfont, George taught 7th grade CCD for 10 years, was a regular usher at the 8am mass and a daily communicant at the 9am mass. George was a talented artist and enjoyed crossword puzzles and writing poetry. He loved following and cheering on his Philadelphia sports teams, and most of all, George loved his wife Ginny and spending time with the whole family. Services will be held at St. Jude Church in Chalfont Monday, January 31, 2022, friends will be received from 10am -11am, followed by a mass of Christian burial at 11am. Interment will be at St. John Neumann Cemetery.
