George Robert Scioli, 76, of Montgomeryville, PA, after years of battling COPD, died on Sunday, May 8, 2022. Born on August 17, 1945 in Bristol, PA, and the son of late Salvatore and Emma May (Whitaker) Scioli. His 3 older sisters preceded him in death and he is survived by his older brother, Michael Scioli, and sister, Delores Heil. George was lovingly called “Butch” by his many siblings, cousins, nieces, and nephew. George attended Delhaas High School before joining the Navy, serving as a Seabee in the Vietnam War. He earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting at Drexel University and Juris Doctorate at Rutgers Law School. Throughout George’s career he held many important positions. Notably, he was a City Solicitor in Philadelphia assigned to prosecute child abuse cases and an advisor to the Philadelphia Police Department. He worked as the Real Estate Manager at Conrail for 16 years, then he investigated health insurance fraud at United Heathcare. George fell in love with Karen Wolfinger and they started to build their life together when he was studying hard to pass the Pennsylvania Bar Association exam. They married on September 20, 1975 and together constructed a beautiful life through encouragement and support of each other. They raised two sons and a daughter through good and hard times, instilling morals and virtue along the way. George worked hard to provide for his family and to give to those in need. As a perpetual student, he enjoyed reading and discussing topics of the world and challenged those around him to think and learn. Despite his many accomplishments, he preserved his modest nature never wanting to take well-deserved credit. George will be remembered for his integrity and hard work throughout his career and by his family and friends. George is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Karen Anne (Wolfinger) Scioli as well as two sons, Vincent Salvatore Michael Scioli and Anthony Robert Scioli; daughter, Lauren Marie (Scioli) Deutz; and 4 grandchildren who affectionately call him “Pop Pop”. Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation on Monday, May 16, 2022 from 4:00 to 6:00pm, followed by a service starting at 6:00pm at Scanlin-McDonald Funeral Home, 175 E. Butler Avenue, Chalfont, PA. The internment will be on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at 2pm at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Road, Newtown, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Manna on Main Street in Lansdale, PA (mannaonmain.org). George liked to support this local food bank throughout the years, being thankful for all he had.
