Emil F. Toften was born in Mt. Vernon, NY on February 3, 1933, to Emil O. Toften and Katherine Griffin.  He was raised in New Rochelle, NY.  He is survived by his wife, Rita Toften (nee Walsh) and sons, Eric (Jackie), Gregory (Jennifer) and Christopher (Justine), his grandchildren, great grandchildren and friend and advocate, Kathleen Toften.


He played football throughout his school years as a quarterback, attending St. Francis of Loretto, PA on a scholarship.  He joined the Army and was stationed in Japan where he continued to play football on Army teams.


When he separated from the Army, he attended Villanova School of Law on a scholastic scholarship, graduating in 1960.


Emil was a member of two Philadelphia Law firms before becoming Assistant General Counsel for SEPTA, overseeing their litigation department until he opened his private practice in Chalfont, PA.  He represented various insurance carriers and was solicitor for a number of Townships in Bucks County.


He was a life-long lover of the outdoors and a conservationist who shared his love of hunting and fishing with his children and grandchildren.


Relatives and friends are invited to greet his family on Friday, October 21, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon followed by a service at Noon at Scanlin McDonald Funeral Home 175 East Butler Avenue Chalfont, PA 18914.
