Edythe B. Herwig of Northfield, New Jersey, formerly of Huntingdon Valley, Jamison, her dream log home in Alburtis, Berks County, and Warrington, died on September 8, 2024, at the age of 93.
The beloved wife of the late Fred M. Herwig with whom she shared 40 wonderful years of marriage.
Edythe was born in Philadelphia, August 29, 1931, the daughter of the late Horace and Catherine Buob. A graduate of Germantown High School in 1949, she then moved to Huntingdon Valley where she was employed as a telephone operator.
Moving to Jamison, she was a homemaker and enjoyed many activities such as raising animals, especially horses, and horseback riding. Edythe also enjoyed needle work, crafts, sewing, hunting, snowmobiling, and spending time at their cabin in Pine Flats in the Poconos. Traveling the United States with her family was a great pleasure. She was a life member of Doylestown Chapter O.E.S. #327 and a long-time member of Neshaminy Warwick Presbyterian Church, Hartsville, PA. Edythe volunteered at Doylestown Hospital, worked at Classic Tile & Flooring, Hatfield, and Kmart in Doylestown.
Edythe is survived by two loving children, David Herwig (Karen) of The Villages, FL, and Carol Garretson of Chalfont, PA. She is also survived by four loving grandchildren, Meghan Mastrangelo (Michael), Kenneth Herwig (Marlee), Christopher Herwig, Nicholas Garretson, and four great-grandchildren along with nieces and nephews, a sister Wilma Kreutz, and a dear friend Hazel Charles. She was preceded in death by her sister-in-law Ruth Keeran.
