Edith T. Gross

Edith T. Gross, age 98, passed away peacefully February 24, 2023. Edith was born on December 10, 1924, to Mary Alice Greenfield and Phillip Gross Sr. of Grosstown in Queen County Maryland. Her parents later moved to the Germantown section of Philadelphia. In 1923, her father purchased the farm on Upper Stump Road in Chalfont, Pennsylvania.

Edith was the youngest of twelve children and the only one born in the farmhouse. After graduating from catholic high school she went to work for a period of time at the hosiery mill in Perkasie. Eventually, she returned to the farm. She loved taking care of the ducks, geese, chickens, pigs, cows, and goats.

She also helped her father with their produce business that was conducted in Germantown. Throughout her life she stayed on the farm helping and managing the farm after her father died in 1960.

She was a devoted member of our lady of the sacred heart catholic church in hilltown, pa. She even was visited by the Cardinal of the Archdioceses of Philadelphia twice.

She is survived by her 3 nieces and 2 nephews Margaretta Kelly, Mary Alice Duckett, Joan Tyree, James Guy and Michael Gross; 6 grand nieces and 3 grand nephews Danielle Duckett, Nadine Taylor, Natalie Guy, Nikki Mace, Diana Paralitucci, Wanda Beitler, Daren Duckett, Devin Duckett and Anthony Sanchez; plus her many great grand nephews and grand nieces.
