Doreen H. Paynton passed away on May 28, 2021 peacefully at home surrounded by her family. Doreen was born in New York City, grew up in Easton, PA and raised her family in Doylestown, PA. She is survived by her younger sister Janet Heffner, her 4 children, Patricia Meier (John), Amy Paynton (Ed Ackerman), Richard Paynton, Jr and Carol Cassidy (Barry), her 9 grandchildren, Johnny (Irene), Chrissy (Carlos), Stephen (Megan), Ashley, Christopher, Katie, Brandon, Lauren and Noelle, and 5 great-grandchildren, Conrad, Ulysses, Amaia, Nico and Stephen Jr. Her educational background includes nursing, finance and business. She was a member of a Questers group and always interested in reading, world travel, music, ballet, community affairs and investment studies. In her spare time, Doreen enjoyed being "Auntie Mame" for her 9 grandchildren by taking them on special trips and showing them the world. Doreen was the Co-founder, Chairman of the Board, Secretary Treasurer and CFO of Dontech Incorporated a company that was incorporated in 1971. Dontech's products are engineered to support high-reliability optical applications such as defense and medical display (LCD) electronics and precision optics assembly markets. Some of Doreen's favorite experiences at Dontech were the opportunity to make special performance windows for the executive offices in the White House, the enhancements to the panoramic display in the Joint Strike Fighter (F-35) and to have optics in the recent Space X rocket. She continued working at Dontech until the end. Doreen was a board member of the following organizations: NOVA (Network of Victim Assistance of America), Bucks County Symphony, Council of Lafayette Women (Lafayette College, Easton PA), Pearl S Buck Foundation, Buck County Historical Society, Bucks County Chamber of Commerce, AR RF Microwave Instrumentation, the Bucks County Symphony, the Foundation Board of Doylestown Hospital, the Ann Silverman Clinic at Doylestown Hospital, the Free Clinic of Doylestown Hospital, and the Americans for Native Americans. Lafayette College had always played a significant role in Doreen's and her family's lives. Upon her husband's death in 1988, Doreen set up an engineering scholarship in his name. Since the original scholarship was donated, an Organic Chemistry lab and an Engineering lab have also been dedicated to Richard Paynton, Sr. The Rotary Club of Doylestown honored Doreen with the 2019 Four-Way Test Award for community leadership in the Business category for her business and volunteer contributions to the community. She was also honored with the Barbara Howard Master Volunteer Award (2018), Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce's Lifetime Business Achievement Award in 2011, Women in Leadership Award from the March of Dimes in 2004, and the Patricia Clatch Outstanding Woman in Business Award (2003). Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services at 1:00 PM Wednesday June 2, 2021 at St Paul's Lutheran Church, 301 N. Main St, Doylestown, PA 18901. Public visitation will be at 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM. Internment will be private.
