Donald David Stieritz, 83, passed away on January 14, 2024. Husband of Sheila (nee Morris) and father of Brian (Robyn), Kurt (Beth), and Eric (Debbie). Grandfather of Lauren Stieritz McDaniel (Tyler), Todd (Ali), Cody (Amanda), Holly Stieritz Hood (Zach), Scott, Allison, Doug, and great grandfather of Greyson McDaniel, Ford McDaniel, Isabella Hood, Camille Hood, and the late Madeleine Camille McDaniel. Survived by brother Stephen (Denise), brother-in-law Jack Murphy, and sisters-in-law Frances Frazee and Charlotte Stieritz. Predeceased by his brother Edward and sisters Mary Carole Kelley, Virginia Hurtt, and Nancy Murphy. Also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and his friends and neighbors from the St. Luke's Over 50's Club and Gwynedd Estates.
Don received a Catholic education at St. Stephen School, Covington Latin School, as well as the then Villa Madonna College, now Thomas More University. After a few years, and a birth of their third son, Eric, Don completed a PhD in Clinical Microbiology at the University of Cincinnati. He was employed as Director of the Clinical Microbiology Lab and also served as faculty for the Hahnemann University Hospital and Medical School.
His loves were his sons and "daughters" their wives, his grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Beyond that he loved jokes, chess, golf, science, and, of course, his wife Sheila, with whom he shared 62 years of marriage.
Funeral Mass 11 AM Monday January 22, 2024, at Church of St. Luke the Evangelist 2316 Fairhill Avenue Glenside, PA 19038. Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation Sunday evening from 6 to 8 PM at the Scanlin McDonald Funeral Home 175 East Butler Avenue Chalfont, PA 18914 and Monday morning at the church from 10 to 11 AM. Interment Private.
