David. M. Hurley, 89, of Jeffersonville, formerly of Doylestown, passed away on June 1, 2024, at
Christiana Care Wilmington Hospital, surrounded by his family. He was born on July 28, 1934, in
Worcester, MA to the late James and Helen Hurley.
David is survived by two daughters Susan (Tim) Gilbert of Mechanicsburg, PA, and Elizabeth
Hurley (Jim Marchese) of Jeffersonville, PA and his son, David P. (Donna) Hurley of Wilmington,
DE, five granddaughters and two great grandsons.
David was predeceased by his loving wife Jeanne (Dumas) Hurley, whom he was married to for
43 years before her death in 2001; and his second wife Dale S. Meyer, whom he was married to
for 11 years before her death in 2021. He was also predeceased by his two brothers, John and
James Hurley.
David proudly served as a Captain in the United States Air Force, stationed at Dow Air Force
Base and Goose Bay Labrador, before beginning a lengthy career with Friendly Ice Cream
Corporation, where he would retire from in 1994 as a Vice President of Store Operations.
In retirement, David enjoyed summers at the shore on Long Beach Island and winters playing
golf in Florida. In his younger years, he also enjoyed skiing with his family at “Up North’ in New
Hampshire.
David will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, and friend who was an attentive
listener with a great sense of humor. He was proud of his Irish heritage and was the life of any
party he was a part of.
David’s life will be celebrated with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM on Saturday, June 15,
2024, at St. Jude Catholic Church, 321 West Butler Avenue, Chalfont, PA 18914 with visitation
for friends and relatives starting at 10 AM. Interment will be private.
