Daniel Orto, resident of Legacy Oaks, died suddenly on July 13 at the age of 45. He leaves behind his loving parents Carol and Jim Orto; his devoted sister and brother-in-law Jenelle and Edward Cinca; his beloved nephew and nieces, Mason, Maia and Melana. He is also remembered fondly by his aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. All those that knew Dan will cherish their memories of his fun loving spirit and kindness.

Dan was born in Rochester, NY where he spent most of his early years before graduating from high school in Loveland, Ohio. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from The Ohio State University. Dan’s passion for cooking, ignited in his childhood kitchen, led him to his career in the culinary arts where he worked as a successful chef in various restaurants in Cincinnati and Columbus, Ohio. Dan relocated to New Jersey where he continued his culinary journey as a chef for Wegmans. Later he found fulfillment in a new role as a UPS driver where he was known for his kindness and friendly demeanor.

Dan’s life was enriched by his deep love of his family and his loyal dog Winston. His adventurous spirit thrived in the outdoors whether he was camping under the stars, hiking with Winston through scenic trails or sharing stories around a campfire. An avid Ohio State Football fan, Dan’s enthusiasm was infectious, especially on game days. He loved being in the kitchen cooking and creating dishes; his culinary talents were legendary, particularly at holiday feasts where his carving abilities brought joy to all.

Dan’s generous spirit shone brightly, always the first to offer help and support to a friend, a kindness exemplified by being an organ donor. His death has left a hole in many hearts.
