Cecilia F. Tierney

Cecelia F. Tierney of Montgomeryville, PA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 16, 2022 surrounded by family. She was 95 years old. Ceil is survived by her son William J. Tierney. She was a proud grandmother to two grandchildren, Christine E. Wilson (Matthew) and William J. Tierney (Marie) and to five great-grandchildren, Billy, JoJo, Katie, Liam & Colin. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband William A. Tierney, her daughter, Cecelia M. Endres, her sisters Mary, Nora, Rita and Agnes, her brother Henry and her daughter-in-law Joanne M. Tierney (William). Ceil was born in Philadelphia and graduated from John W. Hallahan Catholic Girls High School. She would later marry Bill Tierney in 1949 and together they enjoyed great family times while raising their two children in the Olney section of Philadelphia. Ceil enjoyed dancing, reading and travel and thanks to her beloved daughter Celie (the family’s unofficial travel agent), the trips included various cruises along with trips to Hawaii and Italy. However, her greatest joy was spending time with her family and seeing her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren growing up around her. She had a strong faith which she helped pass along to her family. She believed that in serving others, we serve God. We are forever grateful for the years we had with her, the example she set and her joyful spirit. Ceil will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Family and friends are invited to attend her viewings: Thursday, April 21, 2022 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Scanlin-McDonald Funeral Home,175 East Butler Avenue Chalfont, PA 18914 and on Friday, April 22, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Saint Jude Church, 321 West Butler Avenue, Chalfont, PA 18914. Her Funeral Mass at Saint Jude Church will take place at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 3301 W Cheltenham Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19150. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ceil’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN.
