Carol A Myers, Beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Devoted Wife, Passes at 79
Carol A. Myers, 79, of Chalfont, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 21, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Carol was the beloved wife of Robert C. Chalmers and the devoted mother of Suzanne Ferreira (Blake) and the late Terry "T.J." Myers (Onyinye). She cherished her role as a grandmother to Natalie Ferreira, Madeleine Ferreira, Eliana Myers, and Elijah Myers. Additionally, Carol is survived by extended family members AJ Whitman and his son Wyatt.
Born on November 9, 1944 in York, Pennsylvania, Carol was the only child born to Melvin and Florence (Mitchell) Wingate. As a child she loved dancing and playing the accordion and violin. Carol graduated from York High School in (1962) and went on to attend Temple University, where she earned a degree in medical technology in (1966). She dedicated many years to Episcopal Hospital in Philadelphia, working as a medical technologist, supervising the blood bank in the latter part of her career. After her tenure there, she enjoyed working in a variety of other positions including at Whitemarsh Memorial Park until her retirement at age 65.
Carol enjoyed traveling whenever possible and often reminisced about her visits to Europe, New Zealand and Tunisia, Africa. Carol was an avid reader as well as a talented knitter, who frequently gifted her creations to others. She was an active member of her community, including her church BuxMont Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Warrington, PA, where she served many roles including choir member, religious education teacher and president of the board of trustees. Carol also volunteered at Doylestown Hospital, becoming a beloved presence there. In her quiet moments, she tended to her garden and enjoyed bird-watching, finding peace in these activities.
Profoundly influenced by her mother, who became her guiding light after the passing of her father when she was just twelve years old, Carol carried the lessons of strength and wisdom throughout her life. One of her proudest accomplishments was raising her children to be good human beings, reflecting her nurturing and loving nature. She found immense joy in her grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Her most treasured possession was her wedding ring, symbolizing the deep and enduring bond she shared with her beloved husband, Bob. They were together for nearly 40 years. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories.
Carol lived a life filled with purpose, embodying the value of kindness in every interaction. She wished to be remembered for her generous spirit and her readiness to offer help whenever it was needed. Her compassion and warmth touched countless lives, leaving a lasting legacy with all who knew her.
Transitioning to life without Carol in our presence, we hold her in our hearts and memories. Carol will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her gift of love, generosity and unwavering dedication to her family and community will live on in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
