Barbara A. Sonlin

Barbara A. Sonlin, a resident of Chalfont, PA, passed away Wednesday April 18, 2018. She was 83.

Barbara was a dedicated mother and grandmother and spent her entire life catering to the needs of her family. She loved to cook big meals and entertain her loved ones with her festive dinners and Holiday gatherings. She also loved doing things for others and would often be seen around her retirement community visiting and taking meals and little gifts to the residents. Barbara was very creative. She was involved at St. Jude parish making crafts for their various fundraisers. More recently her passion was making gift baskets for the less fortunate and delivering them during the holidays. All year long she would purchase gifts and then put together festively wrapped baskets to be delivered to Father Michael at St. Francis Inn for needy families. Barbara always felt she had so much to be thankful for and she believed it was so important to give back to others. Her generosity was second to none. She was passionate about animals and was totally devoted to her little dog, Maddie, who brought her so much joy and happiness. She will always be remembered for her beautiful smile, compassion for others, and desire to do good for anyone in need. Barbara was so loved and adored by her children, grandchildren and friends, and her loving spirit will be missed by all of the lives she has touched throughout the years.

Barbara was the loving wife of the late Robert J. Sonlin. She is survived by her beloved children Cheryle Edling (Dan) of Chalfont, Michael Sonlin (Laine) of Jamison, Nancy Diveley (Tim) of Chalfont, Stephen Sonlin (Julie) of Avon, CT and Donald Sonlin (Jill) of Doylestown. She is also survived by her brother Robert Akin (Cathy) of Harleysville, 16 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her sister Jeanne Mullin.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate her Funeral Mass 11 AM, Monday, April 23, 2018 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 235 East State Street, Doylestown, PA where the greeting will begin at 10 AM. Interment will follow at Whitemarsh Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers donations in Barbara's name may be made to St. Francis Inn, 2441 Kensington Ave., PO Box 3746, Philadelphia, PA 19125.
