Alverda G. Biggerstaff

Alverda G. Biggerstaff passed away peacefully Tuesday April 13, 2021.

Alverda was born on June 18, 1925 to John and Katie Kniesner in Perkasie, Pennsylvania. The Kniesners were blessed with eight children, all girls.

She was married to George Biggerstaff on December 22, 1951. They had two children together, Elizabeth and Lea. They were married for 31 years until his death in 1982.

After attending Moore College of Art, she worked at Nannette, where she designed clothes for children. She later worked at Lord & Taylor until her retirement.

After retirement, Alverda spent many years doing crafts, where she participated in numerous craft shows. She was always reading and was an avid Phillies fan.

Alverda is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth Biggerstaff and her wife Connie of Mt. Penn, PA, and Lea Ward and her husband Ron of Lansdale, PA; two grandchildren, Tyler Ward and Nicole Ward; one sister Lillian Williams of Hatfield, PA; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her six sisters, Kathryn Marie Kerver, Elizabeth "Betty" Menszak, Mabel Hall, Helen Thierolf, Ethel DiNunzio, and Ella Crouthamel-Roth. At the time of her death, Alverda was 95 years old.

Friends and family are invited to attend her Memorial Service 11 AM, Monday, April 19, 2021 at North & Southampton Reformed Church, 1380 Bristol Road, Churchville, PA 18966 where the greeting will begin at 10 AM. Interment will follow at Kellars Church Cemetery in Perkasie. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to North & Southampton Reformed Church at the above address.
