Alfreda Halas

Alfreda Halas, a resident of Philadelphia for over 74 years, passed away Tuesday August 8, 2017 at Nazareth Hospital at the age of 97. She was the wife of the late Stanley J. Halas with whom she shared 53 years of marriage.

As a practicing Catholic, she was a parishioner at St. Stanislaus (South Philadelphia) and Saint Ladislaus (Nicetown Philadelphia).

She was employed by Queen Casuals and SKF Industry.

Alfreda was the daughter of the late Peter and Laura (Kmiecinski) Tyszka. She is survived by her sons Dr. Alfred S. Halas (Loretta) and John H. Halas (Agnes); three grandchildren, Denise Collier (Norman), Melissa Liang and Michael Halas (Hyunmi); six great grandchildren Emily, Eric and Thomas Collier; Abigail Liang and Claire and Henry Halas. She was the sister of the late Mariana Chludzinska, the late Mary Tyszka and the late Chester Tyszka. She is also survived by nieces and nephews and their families living in Poland.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate her Funeral Mass, 11 AM, Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at St. Jude Church, 321 West Butler Ave., Chalfont, PA where the viewing will begin at 10 AM. Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in Alfreda's memory may be made to Legacy of Life Foundation, 25 South Main St. #217, Yardley, PA 19067 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
